Published on 26-01-2024

2024 is well underway, and many things are already happening at Søby Shipyard. Below, you can read the latest news.

New personnel to our team

New Project Manager Martin H. Nielsen

On January 15, 2024, Martin H. Nielsen started as the new project manager in the project department at Søby Shipyard. Martin brings with him solid experience as a marine engineer, where, in addition to sea experience, he also has experience from having had his own company as a supplier to the Super Yachts industry. Martin is 37 years old and has recently moved to Ærø with his wife.

New Apprentice Kim Robert Henriksen

We have also been fortunate enough to hire Kim Robert Henriksen as a new apprentice. Kim will now undergo thorough training in our Ship Engine department. Søby Shipyard currently has 9 apprentices employed, with 2 of them completing their education in August.

We still need more apprentices, so if you are in need of an apprenticeship or know someone who is, don't hesitate to contact us.

We look forward to a fruitful collaboration with Martin and Kim and warmly welcome both of them

New Equipment for the Shipyard

Søby Shipyard has acquired improved equipment to better meet our customers' needs.

Brand: Sennebogen 6180 HMC

Lifting Capacity: 100 metric tons

Lifting Height: 36 meters

New Crane

On January 20th, a new crane arrived at Søby Shipyard. As the crane was too large to be transported by ferries, a barge had to be requisitioned to ferry the crane from Vejle harbor to Søby Shipyard. The technical specifications of the crane are listed below and will significantly increase the shipyard's lifting capacities.

New Tugboat

Søby Shipyard has also acquired a new, used tugboat. The tugboat will need to be brought up to the shipyard's high standards before it can be put into operation, but once ready, it will be available 24/7 to assist our customers' vessels when they need to be docked. The tugboat has a pulling force of 6 mt.

Birthday at the shipyard

At the shipyard, we currently have two ships from Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie, namely "Wega" and "Capella." On January 24th, the 20th anniversary of the ship "Capella" was celebrated, with Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie hosting a reception for the ship's crew and the shipyard's employees.
